Program
First day, Salta.
Reception at the City of Salta, check-in hotel and lunch. Free afternoon to walk the city and its monuments. Cena.Second day, Salta – Cachi (La Paya).
We begin our jouney going to the (Calchaqui Valleys) Valles Calchaquíes by the Cuesta del Obispo. It will lead us to Seclantás, the town of looms. Then we will visit Molinos and retaking your path we will travel to Cachi (La Paya).
Tercer día, Cachi – Purmamarca.
We'll go on with our journey ascending to 4895 meters above sea level through Abra del Acay, one of the world's highest road passages. We will enter this way the Puna and crossing part of it we'll get to San Antonio de los Cobres and then into las Salinas Grandes. There we will see huge salt extraction pools In the afternoon, we will change our course to descend into the famous Quebrada de Humahuaca by the Cuesta de Lipan, reaching Purmamarca. "El Manantial del Silencio" Hotel.Fourth day, Purmamarca - Humahuaca.
During this day we will travel through different town in the quebrada such as Tilcara Tilcara, Uquía and Humahuaca, to know more about their traditions. "Camino del Inca" Hostel.Fifth day, Humahuaca – Orán/Tartagal.
We will begin one of our most spectacular tours into the Abra de Zenta, a passage located at 4000 meters above sea levels, and from there you will see the vast Cloudjungle (nuboselva) or Selva de las Yungas to the East, into the region of Gran Chaco. Very little walked routes will lead us to an abrupt descense to 600 meters above sea level, while we watch the most spectacular landscape. Near the day's end we will get to the City of Orán/Tartagal.Sixth day, Orán/Tartagal – Santa Victoria Este.
Taking agrarian road and forgotten footprints we will go to the River Pilcomayo, leaving ahead us Las yungas and slowly getting into the hill of Gran Chaco. We'll spend this way from the great Mountains to the vast flat lands. This region populated by the Wichi indians is one of the least populated areas in Argentina, and because of that one of the most daring ever. We enter the town of Santa Victoria, where we will rise our tents next to the cabin of Gendarmería Nacional.
Seventh day, Santa Victoria Este – Las Lomitas.
Leading even more inside into the hill, we will pass through several places populated by the Wichi, walking next to the River Pilcomayo. Entering the province of Formosa, we will head South to reach the R81, an old route that crosses the entire province which will lead us to the City of Las Lomitas. Portal del Oeste Hotel.Eighth day, Las Lomitas - Corrientes.
At early hours of the morning, we will travel once more to the River Pilcomayo, to visit the National Park that beares the same name and where the (While Lagoon) Laguna Blanca is located. Going on our journey, we will retake the route into the city of Corrientes. "Del Pinar" Hostel.Ninth day, Corrientes – Esteros del Iberá.
After breakfast we will begin a new phase of our journey entering the vast Correntina flat land, where are located the mysterious Esteros del Ibera. We will stop in some towns located by the sideway, such as Itati. Before sunset we will get to Colonia Carlos Pellegrini, next to the Ibera Lagoon. We will lodge there in a traditional inn (Aguape or La Laguna).Tenth day, Esteros del Ibera.
Free day to travel the esteros by boat, by horse or trekking its surroundings. Lodgind and dinner at the inn.Eleventh day, Esteros del Ibera - Oberá.
Today we begin the final phase of our journey entering the Misionera Jungle. We'll leave behind the vast flat land, we will travel through red earth paths in the beautiful landscape that the Hills with their rich and colourful vegetation can offer us. Several small towns pueblos will be found along our path and when we get to the Jesuitic Ruines of Santa Maria we will stop to visit them. At this moment we will find ourselves next to the coasts of the River Uruguay and to end our itinerary into Oberá, following footprints that lead inside to the Hills. Cabins of the Park.
Twelfth day, Oberá – Moconá.
Early in the morning we will part to El Soberbio and the Saltos del Moconá. Following ancient paths and forgotten footprints in the deep of the jungle, reaching the Mocona Biosphere Reservation. Moconá Refuge.Thirteenth día, Moconá - Cataratas del Iguazú.
Travel to the Saltos del Moconá and towards the mystic R 21 to the center of the Misiones Hills. Near the end of day we will arrive at our final destination, Puerto Iguazú and its famous falls. Sheraton Iguazú Hotel. Characteristics Total distance (aproximated)to cross: 3200 km.Includes
